The Trenton Democratic Club has a tent at the Trenton Mid-Summer Festival this weekend! Stop by, register to vote, get information about this year’s Democratic candidates, and tease our webmaster about always wearing a campaign t-shirt! This month, the Trenton Democratic Club will be on meeting in Brownstown! The meeting takes place Wednesday, May 19. We’re meeting up with the Brownstown Democratic Club to hear Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon speak. Coffed and donuts will be served afterwards. The main meeting starts at 7pm, but Trenton Democratic Club members should arrive by 6:45pm so we can take care of this year’s officer elections! Meeting is at the Brownstown Community Center, 21311 Telegraph Road. The April 2010 general meeting of the Trenton Democratic Club will be Thursday, April 15th at 8pm. The meeting is at The Westfield Activities Center (2700 Westfield Rd). The February 18 meeting has been cancelled due to a scheduling issue. The Trenton Democratic Club will be holding a joint meeting with the Allen Park Democratic Club on Thursday, January 21, at 7:00PM. The meeting will be held in the back room of the Silver Spoon Restaurant, 4939 Allen Road, Allen Park, MI. The featured speaker is Jocelyn Benson, candidate for the Democratic nomination for Secretary of State. The May 2009 meeting of the Trenton Democratic Club was held at the Westfield Activities Center. We had two guest speakers: Justin Johnson (of the Michigan Senate Democrats) and John Freeman (of Heatlh Care for America Now). Continue reading May 2009 Meeting Summary ![]() AARA logo Senators Stabenow and Levin announced this past week that the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (a.ka. “the stimulus bill”) contains $2.7 million for brownfield cleanup Downriver. A brownfield, according to the EPA, is “real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant.” Cleaning up brownfields so they can be redeveloped is an important step in creating new jobs Downriver. Most of the new money will be used for assessing area brownfields for future cleanup.
